| Portrait
of a Partner: |
| Kamatics
and Acceleron Continue Long-Standing Relationship |
 |
| Electron
Beam and Laser Welded Kamatics Bearings |
|
Kamatics Corporation, a subsidiary of Kaman Corporation,
is located in Bloomfield, Connecticut. They are a manufacturer
of high-performance mechanical products used in aviation,
marine, hydropower and other industrial applications.
Their primary products are self-lubricating bearings,
shafts
and flexible couplings, and composite flyer bows. Acceleron
has been electron beam welding for Kamatics Corporation
since the beginning of our business in 1974, when we
were known as Don Montano Associates, or DMA. Our partnership
is based on quality workmanship and quick
deliveries. Often, we will receive only an hour's notice
that Kamatics will be needing us to weld a bearing.
We typically provide a one-day turnaround; but, on occasion,
they have dropped off a bearing at Acceleron in the
morning
and have gotten it back from us in the afternoon.
The
quality of our electron beam welding is very important
to Kamatics. The Kamatics Web site states that their "product
niche is to thrive where other products simply can't
survive." Ed
Smith, Director Material for Kamatics, explains that
their customers choose Kamatics' bearings because of
their unique
bearing liner material, which allows a high load carrying
ability in smaller packages. Acceleron, in turn, is
able to produce quality welds within the space constraints
of Kamatics' unique configurations.
Acceleron's welders
work
one-on-one with the Kamatics engineering department
for all of their weld development programs.
When Kamatics has a new design, their engineers are
able to come to Acceleron's facility and stand by while
test welds are done. After Acceleron performs all the
required weld penetration testing and pushout testing,
Kamatics then cuts the work apart to check the weld parameters.
Acceleron
has a very respectful, open and strong relationship
with long-time partner Kamatics. As Ed Smith says, "Acceleron
has always been, and continues to be, our single source,
rapid-response partner, providing complete welding
solutions. We can always rely on Acceleron to come
through for us,
to satisfy our customers' needs." Return

U.S.
Surgical Visits Acceleron
In-house
educational seminars now available
Acceleron is pleased to now offer in-house educational
seminars for both new and long-standing customers who are
interested in learning more about our various technologies.
During the month of October, 2004, Acceleron was the host
for representatives of U.S. Surgical on two separate occasions.
These seminars provided a general overview of our capabilities,
as well as in-depth information on each technology we offer,
a luncheon and a tour of both Acceleron's laser division
and main facility. The day continued with open discussions
on various parts that U.S. Surgical representatives brought
along, with additional time for questions and answers.
"We
were very pleased with the outcome of these two seminars," stated
President Rory Montano, "and we would like to extend
to your company the same opportunity. Whether it is at
our facility or yours, we are available to spend as much
time as you would like to help you understand which technologies
are best suited to your company's needs."
Should
you be interested in scheduling an educational seminar
with
us, please feel free to contact Don Christensen at
(860) 651-9333.
